Assigning Goals to Employees as a (non-Admin) Manager

Direct Managers are able to assign goals to their team members from within their own Employee Self Service Portal. This article walks you through how you as an Admin User enable this for your team, before moving on to how it works.

How do I Enable my Managers to Assign Goals to their Team?

This can be done on a case by case basis or as a bulk action.

If you're looking to give this permission to just one or two Managers, simply head to their employee records and to the "Edit Employee Details" area on the top right. Once you're there, hop into the middle tab named "ESS Portal":

Then scroll to the bottom of the page and toggle on the "Portal Permissions" to check the option "Manage Goals for Others" and don't forget to hit "Save" before moving away from the page:

Alternatively, to give this permission to multiple Managers within your organisation simultaneously you can head to Setup > Tools > Advanced > Set Employee ESS Portal Permissions in Bulk. Once there you can select "Allow" next to "Can Manage Goals for Others" before hitting "Save" at the bottom of the page:

Once set up, how does it work?

Your Managers will be able to log into their Employee Self Service portals and expand the "Goals" menu item on the left, which will reveal the "Team Goals" area:

The screen that opens up will list out any of that person's direct reports. Beneath each name the Manager will be able to see any open Goals, as well as the option to "Add A Goal":

After having selected the option to "Add A Goal", the next page that opens up looks just like when you assign a Goal as an Admin User. Your managers just need to follow the steps to create the Goal:
