Xero: Understanding the Data Flows
One of the easiest ways of streamlining your HR is having systems in place that speak to each other! You can read all about how to set up the Integration with Xero Payroll, but once you're set up and ready to go, there are a couple of things you need to know.
There are certain fields within an Employee Record that integrate with Xero, as well as Time Off and Leave Balances and Timesheets.
Note
We integrate with Xero Payroll only. If you use Xero for Accounting but not for Payroll, integrating with HR Partner is not possible.
Important
The integration is primarily a one-way feed, where Xero is treated as the "source of truth". This means that your employees originate from Xero and will be pushed through to HR Partner. Changes made to any of the fields that are part of the integration need to be made in Xero; if they are made in HR Partner they will be overridden by Xero on the next refresh
Which Fields Integrate with Xero?
Something customers often want to know is which fields integrate with Xero. It is important to point out that these differ in accordance with your location due to differences in the Xero API feed:

- Gender (M, F or Non-binary)
- Address (Line 1, Line 2, City, Region, Postcode, Country)
- Date of Birth

- Termination Date
- Current Job Title

- Employment Type
New Zealand
- First Name
- Last Name
- Gender (M, F)
- Address (Line 1, Line 2, City, Suburb, Postcode, Country)
- Date of Birth

UK
- First Name
- Last Name

For these fields, you should make any changes in Xero and then they will flow through into HR Partner.
